SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
OK. So the S is about to HTF but you have some gold and silver stashed away in hopes it is going to be worth something during very bad times. But the government, knowing that things are desperate calls in all the gold and silver. (((Just go along with that hypothetical situation))) They will give me $1 for my silver eagles and $5 for my 1/10 gold eagles. That's face value. That being the case, what is the best form of gold and silver to buy that can't be recalled for SHTF?

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
Assuming that scenario (I do not buy it), non denominated gold and silver bullion bars like pamp, j&m etc... or even foreign bullion such as maples would fall outside of that scenario.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
What silver?
Just kidding. The closest to face would be 40s. This is also the safer bet if you're STILL not sure if silver's in a bull market. ...Not bad for small denominations and certain recognizable minting for SHTF trading too. But why not buy pre-1980 pennies in bags instead? There you're closer than ever and I doubt they'd be recalled? Or copper pipe? Or silver solder? Or... TS |
Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
I fully expect the day to come when gold/silver is ILLEGAL to trade except for those in power..
After the economic fall and consolidation of the 'bad guys' I expect them to eventually call gold "the money of drug dealers and terrorists" and they will shut the door on real money for good. That is why I quit investing in gold when it hit $500 and silver at $7. Now it's all hard durable tradeable goods. None of us know the future. I do remember as a kid hearing something in the bible to the effect 'people will throw their gold and silver in the street as useless'. Only a corrupt world government could bring this about. But every theory on this board seems to point us in that direction. |

She is still in partial denail over some of things to come. Weird. She believes 100% that the rapture will come before SHTF. As I tell her, S has already HTF for many Christians around the world already. What makes you think we are immune to that here in the USA? Anyway, thats the reason my mom doesn't want any, and my dad doesn't think he'll be able to find a buyer... BTW no currency collapse is even on his radar :banghead: |
Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
I don't think your going to get away with anything. Either they are going to recall all gold and silver or they wont recall any. Its kind of silly to think they will only recall some of it.
I personally don't believe its legal to "recall" gold or silver. So don't believe anything "can't" be recalled, because if they recall any of it, they can recall all of it. Might want to spend time on thinkings of way to hide the gold and silver. Thats the best way to go as you get to keep it all. |
Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
The only Precious Metal that cannot be confisicated is the stash that ONLY you know about, period, end of sentence.
I like the idea of trade goods. Hard Liquour for one. EZ to store and can be used as fuel. At least, I think it can be used as fuel. Anyone here tried running a generator on Bacardi 151? |
Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
Silver was never recalled by FDR. Furthermore, it wasn't enforced too well anyways: stupid sheeple turned in their gold, and those who kept quiet never had trouble keeping theirs...and, furthermore, those who were smart also had old collectible coins and foreign coins as well.
Important: NEVER let sheeple see much of your collection, if any at all. |
Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
When and if Uncle Sam tries to recall all gold and silver, I have a bunch of copper covered lead they can have, but I'll need to keep the brass cases.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
So they call it in. Are you going to give it to them on their terms? What would make you think that you had to do that? Just make sure you can get by without having to use them for a while if need be. And, bullion is the STARTING POINT to make many other things they very likely WON'T be calling in. Just something to think about.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
When the government makes something illegal the price normally goes up.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
What they would probably try to do is to criminalize the ownership of gold and silver, making many afraid to trade goods for it. The goal is to force everyone into the corrupt Federal Reserve system and eventually eliminate cash altogether...total control and theft/taxation is all it's about, something that debit/credit schemes facilitate.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
They can't control drugs, so what makes anyone believe they can control gold or silver? I don't know if they will try to or not but I know I am not handing it over and its not going to stop me from selling it.

Re: SHTF Gold Silver-Recall
Well, there are options, as in the post above. There is also leaving the country.
I recently sold all my precious metals, seriously, to buy the farm. What I learned from it was stick to the most widely recognized and most readily tradeable forms of silver. .999 bullion and 90%. .999 trades super easy and the spread on buying and selling was half that for 90%, I got more return on my .999 than I did on my 90% and nobody cared about the condition or type of coin even though I had some really nice stuff. Nobody cared about the type of .999, either. I got just as much for my ugliest generic as I did for my prettiest maple or eagle. 40%, foreign and miscelaneous junk was a whole nother story. I should have bought 90% or .999 instead. All the weird stuff sold at a discount to even 90%. Even sterling, which is more pure, sold at a discount to 90%. So, I'd think much less about confiscation and more about liquidity. When they outlaw gold and silver they'll also outlaw natural things like unchipped animals that can reproduce and they'll also outlaw heirloom seeds. They'll likely site biodiversity, mumbo jumbo diseases and evironmental impact as reasons. You can raise fish and quail very easily and quietly inside your home, as long as you aren't raided nobody would know. Beans, some species of miniature citrus, too. Prometheus, I hear you re: your folks. We have some family like that, too. My wife and I are basically just setting things up so when the time comes we can move them in and put them to good use earning their keep. The main thing is to take care of that wife and baby of yours, you can't save everybody but you can see to it that your family is provided for. MTNMAN, I hear that, too. It's all old Florida Crackers and farmers out in our new neighborhood, everybody owns land and is raising livestock and crops on it, and nobody's taking anything from anybody without a fight. I pity the SOB they try to send out this way to chip animals or confiscate weapons or metals. Our whole street is nothing but a gauntlet of shotguns and hunting rifles. |
